An afternoon at Szamos...

As the good weather continues so the desire to wander outside increases.
After a nice home made meal we went for coffee and cakes to Szamos (http://www.szamosmarcipan.hu/flash/index.swf?nyelv=angol), in this case the one located near Kiss János altábornagy utca (

Szamos is one of the gastronomic pleasures of Budapest. They have the best cakes and ice-creams, and it's always nice to seat outside and taste an alma joghurt torta and sipping a nice capuccino, all in the best company and complemented with an interesting conversation.
All in all a very pleasant afternoon!

Spring arrived!

It seems Spring has come to Budapest.
Today the temperature is in the upper teens and the sun is shining, the perfect excuse for a nice long walk in the city!
Lately the city seems immersed in a perpetual motion. Crowded streets at any time of the day, thousands of cars, buses and trams, keep circulating like there's no tomorrow, and people rushing to go, it seems, nowhere. However, it all changes when the sun comes out. The city gains new colors and the streets look renewed.
Budapest is, in fact, a fantastic city to live in. The architecture is incredibly diverse and rich, everywhere you can find trees and green spaces, and you breathe history when you walk around.
Today we went for lunch in Raday utca (
Ver mapa maior), a beautiful street filled with cafes and terraces, restaurants and small shops. It's always full of life when the weather is nice and a must for anyone visiting the city.
After lunch we took the metro and walked from Nyugati to Oktagon, and then via Andrassy ut all the way to Deak Ferenc Ter. This is the pulsing heart of Budapest, where you can find all kinds of people, shops and monuments.
Indeed, Budapest is a great place to live...

Welcome

Thank you for visiting my blog.

I decided to start writing about my experience as a Portuguese in Budapest, an alien in Hungary.
These will be lose letters where I will address daily events, political developments, a sharing platform of my life in this beautiful country but, also, a place to share my opinions and reactions to what surrounds me around here.

Hope you enjoy!
